You can make a difference

Brothers and Sisters at Christ Church….

I always brag about how deep the hearts are here at Christ Church. As we watch the calamity of the United States forces moving out of Afghanistan, we see so many examples of “shell shocked” people heading to our country, while many or their relatives are left to experience the next chapter.  It is heartbreaking to consider their escape and the uncertainty as they find their way to the United States.

With the Episcopal Migration Ministries, you can make a difference NOW for those who are landing in the United States for processing and resettlement.  The need is great and will be a tangible way to “Welcome the Stranger” as we directed to by our Father.

Watch Bishop Curry’s message on Afghanistan.

There is just as much need for us to participate in the efforts being directed towards those whose lives have been uprooted by Hurricane Ida. The well-respected Episcopal Relief and Development Fund is a great avenue for support to those starting their personal efforts of recovery. We are close witnesses to the devastation of this storm…and we can be close allies in providing support as the turmoil continues: housing, food, electricity, clothing, transportation, are great needs.

You can donate two ways: Episcopal Relief & Development Hurricane Fund | The Diocese of Texas Disaster Preparedness Fund

Comparison of these tragedies has little significance. The need is overwhelming in both. We can start to restore the worth and dignity of those struggling and answer our call to serve.
Please consider donating to one or both funds.  Your gift will be used immediately. And, Most Importantly, Please Continue to Pray for Each who are affected by these events.

O God, the creator and preserver of all mankind, we humblybeseech thee for all sorts and conditions of men; that thouwouldest be pleased to make thy ways known unto them, thysaving health unto all nations. More especially we pray forthy holy Church universal; that it may be so guided andgoverned by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and callthemselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, andhold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and inrighteousness of life. Finally, we commend to thy fatherlygoodness all those who are in any ways afflicted or distressed,in mind, body, or estate; [especially those for whom our prayersare desired]; that it may please thee to comfort and relievethem according to their several necessities, giving them patienceunder their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all theirafflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen
